Struggling to See Your Brand in Kajabi Templates? Let’s Make Your One Page Site Shine!
Jan 01, 2025So, you’ve landed in Kajabi, all bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, ready to conquer the online business world.
You dive into the template section, thinking, “This will be easy to customize for my brand! All I have to do is find something pretty, add my copy and then swap out the images and colors!”
Then reality hits: “Wait… how do I manipulate this template to make this template look like my brand?”
Sound familiar? You’re not alone.
Kajabi templates are a great starting point. They're super helpful for those of us that don't have the time, skills for design or money to hire someone to do it for us.
However, getting these templates to truly feel like your brand instead of 'generic internet person' is tricky.
Your brand is more than just colors and logos - it's an entire feeling that you're tasked with capturing
The good news? You don’t need to be a design wizard to turn a basic Kajabi template, or a Kajabi Template you purchased from a third party, into a site that reflects your brand and speaks to your audience.
PLUS, read to the end – there's bonus training in the Heart-Centered Kajabi Support Group to help you crush this without unnecessary stalls and delays caused by tech overwhelm!
Step 1: Get Clear on Your Branding
Before you start messing around with templates, you need to know what you’re aiming for.
If your brand were a person, what would they be like? Professional and straightforward like Fedex®? Happy and connected like Coca Cola®? Empowering and action-oriented like Nike®? Slightly sarcastic but full of heart? (Hi, it’s me.)
Ask yourself:
- What’s your brand vibe? Think about personality, not just colors.
Reflect on these questions:
- What feelings should your brand give off? Confident and inspiring? Warm and supportive?
- How should people perceive your brand? Approachable and friendly, or bold and authoritative?
- Who is your brand at a party? The inspiring leader, the witty friend, or the reliable planner?
- What words describe your brand? Bold, clever, nurturing?
Pro Tip: Aim for an emotional response—excitement, trust, reassurance. Your brand vibe becomes your guide for all decisions, from design to content.
- What colors and fonts define your business?
Pro tip: Pick a palette and stick to it like it’s your secret weapon.
- Stick to 2–3 Fonts:
- Use one for headlines, one for body text, and (optional) an accent font.
- Pair fonts that complement each other and prioritize readability, especially on screens.
- Choose 4–5 Colors:
- Include a core color, an accent, and neutrals for balance.
- Ensure good contrast for readability (Accessibility) using tools like the WebAIM Contrast Checker.
- Explore matches with tools like Coolors or Canva’s Palette Generator.
- Be Consistent:
- Apply your palette and fonts across all branding—website, social media, emails, etc.—to build trust and recognition.
Keep it simple, cohesive, and reader-friendly to create a brand that stands out!
Pro Tip: Your brand vibe is the emotional response you want from your audience—excitement, trust, or the "OMG, I need to work with them now!" energy. This vibe guides every decision, from fonts to messaging..
Step 2: Choose a Template That Speaks to You (Not at You)
Kajabi offers some in-house templates, but not every one of them is “the one.”
You’re looking for a layout that you feel will showcase your content and you feel comfortable editing.
Questions to ask when picking your template:
- Does the layout fit the way you want to showcase your business?
- Does it feel flexible enough to make it yours?
- Does it vibe with your style, or does it scream meh?

Step 3: Customize Like a Boss (But Don’t Overthink It)
Here’s where the magic happens!
Once you’ve picked your template, it’s time to make it yours.
But let’s keep this simple: You’re not creating the next Mona Lisa—you’re building a website that works.
- The Basics: Colors & Fonts: Make them match your brand. If you’re a hot pink and teal person, own it. If muted earth tones are your thing, go with that.
- Kajabi’s customization guide walks you through tweaking your site settings with ease.
- Your Logo: It’s your digital handshake. You can use your NAME if you don’t have one yet.
- Don’t let not having a logo designed stop you from setting up your page!
- Call To Action: This is the #1 action you want them to take - buy, sign up, opt-in, join, book a call, etc.
- Get it up top where everyone can see it within the first scroll on your page - in the hero section or header.
- Images: Ditch the generic stock photos unless they really fit your vibe. Use pics that feel authentic (or at least real adjacent).
- Layout Tweaks: Don’t be afraid to shuffle things around. Hide what you don’t need, add what you do, and keep it clean.
Step 4: Want Inspiration?

Step 5: Keep It Simple, Superstar
Here’s the deal: Your Kajabi website doesn’t need to win any awards for complexity.
It just needs to:
- Represents the essence of YOU without tons of pictures OF you. (they are hiring what YOU can do for them - or the solution YOU created - so yep, it needs to represent the transformation YOU bring them)
- Make it easy for people to take the next step (Call to action to buy, book a call, sign up, etc.).
- Give off the FEELING you want to inspire that they’ll have working with you or the solution you provide.
It’s about clarity, not complexity.
The trick? Don’t overthink it. Keep the layout clean, the navigation simple, and let your promised transformation shine.
Your Kajabi website (even if just ONE PAGE) is more than just a digital space—it’s your first impression, your calling card, your online home.
With a little tweaking (and maybe some help from Sara’s training), you can take any template and turn it into a site that screams, THIS is my business. I’m YOUR solution!
